A note from Harwell Parish Council 

St Matthew's Churchyard
works being carried out
on Wednesday 1st April 2026

 
Following a tree survey, the large Sycamore in the corner of the churchyard near the wall and footpath leading to the rectory & cemetery was identified as requiring removal. 

Harwell Parish Council has been liaising with tree surgeons to gain quotes for removal and the necessary permissions. This has now been received and we plan to complete the works on Wednesday 1st April. 

While works are being undertaken, Church Lane will be closed from the junction with Wellshead Lane but the Lay family who own the farm opposite have kindly given permission for access through their farm and out onto the A417.
