Sunday Evening Services Q&A

How long will the Sunday Evening Service be?
  • The Sunday Service will not be as long as our services prior to 'lockdown'. It is anticipated that the Sunday Evening Services will last approximately 40 minutes.
Are children allowed to come along?
  • Children may attend, but there is currently no creche provision permitted and the service will be 'pitched' at adults and older children.
What are the arrangements on arrival?
  • We would ask that you ensure social distancing whilst waiting to enter and when passing others in church; you will be given instructions where to sit, as you will not be able to choose seating.
Can I sit near my friends?
  • You may sit with household members, but everyone else will be in socially-distanced seating (at least 2m apart in St Matthew's, and 1.5-2m apart in All Saints')
Do I need to bring my own Bible, if so what version is usually used?
  • If you wish to use a Bible you will need to bring your own; we usually use the NIV
Can I expect Communion?
  • We are not currently offering Communion in our services, but hope to do so soon
How can I make an offering?
  • You may put a cash or cheque offering in the wall safe, or make an electronic payment via the website or through the Parish Giving Scheme
Will there be singing?
  • We are not permitted to sing together, but we intend to have music to listen to; we are also asked not to raise our voices while inside
Will there be refreshments after the service and an opportunity to chat afterwards?
  • Unfortunately we are not permitted to serve refreshments, and people are required to leave the building promptly after the service ends
What happens at the end of the service, then?
  • Please do not leave the church until asked to do so and follow instructions given, waiting in your seat until your turn is indicated
What do I need to bring?
  • You need only bring yourself!
Am I expected to wear a mask?
  • No. This is not required, but some people will choose to do so
Will there be hand cleanser?
  • Yes. Hand cleanser is available at the door and everyone entering and leaving the building is encouraged to use it
Will the toilets be open?
  • Yes. The toilets will be available
Will the church be clean?
  • Both churches are being cleaned regularly, but we are unable to guarantee that they are sterile!
Do I need to pre-book?
  • No. But it is very helpful to us for people to indicate that they are planning to attend but following the simple instructions here
